Details of the Mompox private tour

Located 320 kilometers south-east of Cartagena, on the banks of the Magdalena River, and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city of Santa Crux de Mompox is exceptional with its colonial architecture, the magnificence of its churches, its squares, its houses and its history.

Since 1564, Mompox has been celebrating Easter, when wealthy people gave jewelery, altars and images at that time so that they could atone for their sins and obtain eternal salvation. This is why Mompox shows a great religious vocation. During Easter week, the city wakes up and turns completely into one of the most colorful of Colombia with its ancient traditions.

During your city tour, the local Mompox guide will introduce you to the most interesting religious sites, historical and cultural sites such as Plaza Major and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Mompox's most popular landmark, because this place was the foundation of the first Spanish populations.

You will visit the churches of Santa Barbara, Santo Domingo, San Augustin, San Francisco and San Juan de Dios among others. Also the famous historical and cultural places as well as the Plaza Tamarindo (of Bolivar), the Municipal Plaza, the House of the Culture and many historical houses.
